United Way 2-1-1 Database

In 2012, Neighborhood Nexus and our core partners at Emory University and the Atlanta Regional Commission, in partnership with the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, obtained a list of service providers in the United Way’s 2-1-1 database, which is a referral service used to connect people in need with the right services. While this list isn’t a comprehensive listing of all service providers in the region, it does paint a more complete picture than just focusing on community deficits.

One important caveat – this tool should not be used as a substitute for 2-1-1. If you are in need of a particular service, go to the 2-1-1 online database. This tool is for research purposes only.

Asset Mapping

Too often, maps focus on deficits – where are the impoverished areas, where are the highest foreclosure rates but looking only at deficits tells only half of the story. To get a fuller understanding of your community, one needs to see not only the socioeconomic conditions present, but also the assets of the community.
